Welcome to our support

Smoothwall does currently remain the dark lord of the Sith for a multitude of tech problems at SGW at the moment but we’re still working on it.  However, a Surface Pro that isn’t up to date can also potentially cause just as many issues.  Some updates are automatic, while others you can force to take place.

Simply press the ‘Windows’ key on the keyboard, then immediately type in ‘Update’, press enter and you will be taken to the ‘Check for updates’ screen.  Click the grey box that says ‘Check for updates’ and the machine will check whether any updates are due to be installed.  A good habit to get into would be to regularly do this outside of teaching hours (eg. early morning, during a non-teaching period or after school) and then you can be sure that your surface pro won’t suddenly ask you to update itself in the middle of a lesson.

So………

PRESS THE WINDOWS KEY

TYPE ‘UPDATE’ AND PRESS ENTER TO REACH THE WINDOWS UPDATE PAGE.  NOW CLICK THE ‘CHECK FOR UPDATES’ GREY BOX.
