Welcome to our support

eStream (Planet eStream - Search) is a very powerful video platform which is setup to host videos separated into departmental areas.

It can host any video you have or find (either your own uploaded video files, or YouTube videos which will be hosted without adverts) as well as record any programme from a Freeview TV channel as well as host any video that is currently stored on BBC iPlayer, ITV player etc.

Hosting YouTube videos on eStream is desirable as it will show the videos without adverts and also without any of the ‘watch history’ that YouTube often shows and of which you might not want to project to your students if you open YouTube directly.

To record a live TV show to save forever:

  1. Click ‘create’ and then ‘record TV’.

  1. You’ll be presented with a Freeview TV guide.  Simply click on what you want to record (no Match of the Day recordings though please)!

  1. Fill in the video details as you wish, but ensure you choose to ‘select categories’ so the video gets filed in the right subject area

  1. Press ‘confirm’ and the video will be saved in your subject area after the programme finishes airing live!

To add a video from a TV archive such as BBC iPlayer etc:

  1. Click ‘create’ and then ‘TV and Radio Archive’.

  1. Search for your show in the ‘search’ bar which will trawl the databases of iPlayer, ITV etc.

  1. Find the show you’re after and click to ‘Import to Planet eStream’ on the right.

  1. Fill in the video details as you wish, but ensure you choose to ‘select categories’ so the video gets filed in the right subject area

  1. Press ‘confirm’ and the video will be in your subject area within a few minutes!

To host a video file (either your own or from YouTube):

  1. Click ‘create’ and then ‘upload’.

  1. Choose what sort of video file you want to upload.  If it’s a YouTube video simply add in the YouTube web address

  1. Fill in the video details as you wish, but ensure you choose to ‘select categories’ so the video gets filed in the right subject area

  1. Press ‘confirm’ and the video will be in your subject area within a few minutes (and if YouTube it will have no adverts)!
